I’m leaving for a short trip to Northern Alberta where I hope to make a long overdue dent in an on-going project about the community of Wood Buffalo. Speaking of community check out the finalists for the Magnum Expression Award (here).

This project that I’ve been working on lately is a direct result of trying to find something of cultural interest in my own backyard, a task that I’ve always found difficult. The official tourist season on the Athabasca Glacier ended yesterday so I will have to wait until next spring to finish it.  After ten years of living in the Canadian Rockies I still have not gotten used to the fact (or taken it for granted) that the above location is in my “backyard”.  How fortunate I am.
